“Synchronicity
requires gaining access to a place deep within yourself, while at the same time
awakening to the intricate dance of coincidences out in the physical world.”—Deepak
Chopra
On June 18th I’m scrambling to pack the car and
get out of town--destination Moclips Washington. It’s our fourth trip this
year. The last thing I needed to do before we left town involved a gun—a pistol
to be specific.
After unpacking the car we quickly headed to the beach. We
had several specific reasons for this trip. Our primary reason was to
memorialize the two teenage girls who were murdered here in 1975 Tina Jacobsen
and Gael Burton. Second was to relax and escape the traffic and noise that goes
with it. Our final reason was to collect some specific driftwood to create some
decorative displays for our garden. I’m planning on building a ghost wood bar
out of driftwood. On the beach the first piece of driftwood we find looks like
a gun—a pistol. Synchronicity is rolling. It’s a rather big gun, bigger than
any real gun. The next morning I was on a walk and found another, than another,
and then one that kind of reminded me of a sawed off shotgun. It had a shoulder
stock that fit my shoulder—custom made for me.
That night we decided to walk through the town. While on our
walk we noticed a house with a nice plant. I’ve noticed this plant before. My
wife said I should take a picture of it. I did. The owner came home and was
getting out of the car. I asked her what the name of it was and she said some
name I knew I’d never remember. She knew I wouldn’t remember. She then told me
to just search dinosaur plant. The next morning I did and synchronicity. The
name of the plant is GUNNERA. A rolling
synchronicity around the word gun. The guns shaped like a pistol found a home in our rose garden. Now it's Guns-N-Roses.
The storm that hit Moclips in 1913 destroyed the magnificent hotel and many of the homes there. It also ended the final destination for the Northern Pacific Railway. All that is left now is remnants.
