Out of body experience

April 16, 2011

Awoke around 3:30am and was restless. I visualized me lying in a safe cocoon, warm and comfortable. I then let my thoughts float. I allowed the blackness that I saw to take shape and form. A purple shape form kept re-appearing. I then visualized I had a contraption that I would lay down on. I laid on my stomach. It had a hole where my face was so I could see below. I allowed the purple object to guide me, or float, or flip me over. It felt very real to the point where I'd get dizzy at times.

Then I appeared in my backyard in a vehicle. A truck. My wife was in the backseat of the truck. The truck appeared to be some kind of cartoon truck like an oversized Tonka truck.

I was in a lucid dream. I wasn't really driving the truck. It was driving me. I was just sitting in it unable to do much of anything other than observe. I didn't even seem to have much thought about what was going on--just going with it. My wife behind me was complaining the entire time. The truck drove over to the edge of my deck facing the back side of my house when suddenly my seat started to rise up with me in it. My wife's didn't. She might not have even been in the dream anymore. The seat went as high as the top of my roof. I am now level with the rooftop. A lone thought entered--THIS IS WEIRD. Then my body shot straight into the air blasting into another world.

At some point it stopped. I looked down. Way down below was the top of my house. I was hovering over it about 1,000 feet up. The feeling was incredible. The ride up was better than any amusement park ride ever made. There I was alone fully concsious of who and what I am hovering in some other world. Is this what it feels like to be dead I thought. It felt fantastic. Am I dead? With that thought a voice came into my head, "Just go with it." Go where? I then shot off again only this time I was flying horizontal rather than vertical. Another thought--Be careful. How? I'm flying and I have no body. At least I don't think I have a body.

I was moving extremely fast through the clouds. I think I could alter the speed and was doing this with just my thoughts. I could see buildings below. A village of some kind. It was a medieval village like something you might see in an early time period. European. White stucco with dark wood wrap around the windows I believe.

Suddenly I was back in my body on my bed. My body pulsated and vibrated like an electrical current was going through it.

It came in waves from the top of my head down to my toes and then back up again. It was almost painful. Unlike anything I'd ever experienced. It went on for what seemed like a few minutes. When it finally stopped I'd knew that I experienced something special. The purple form returned in the blackness and I wondered if it had anything to do with it. I tried to communicate with it but no response.

I laid there awhile thinking about this experience before eventually drifting off to sleep. The next morning I told my wife about it and she just passed it off as a dream. I knew it wasn't a dream. I was now 50 years old and have had enough dreams to know what a dream is and this wasn't one. On my office I had numerous boxes of things I'd ordered from Amazon. Most of them un-opened. The un-opened boxes were books that I'd ordered months prior with the thought of eventually getting around to reading all of them. I went upstairs and brought a box down and opened it in front of my wife. In it was a book. The book was on astral travel projection. A perfect synchronized moment. As I recall the book was published sometime in the mid 70's. I loaned the book to a friend and never got it back. I've asked for it back and he thinks he discarded it.

After this experience I researched and discovered numerous people who have had similar experiences. I then discovered Robert Monroe who is the only person to scientifically prove that he can induce an out of body experience. I read all of his books and went through his Gateway program in hopes that I too could induce it. I discovered it isn't that easy. I have had numerous other OBE's but all have come in lucid dreams. None while I am wide awake and fully conscious like Robert Monroe teaches. It's been very frustrating but I continue to try.
